Falcidian portion
- The portion of an inheritance, usually one-fourth, that the main heir can keep in civil law if more than three-quarters of the inheritance was left to other beneficiaries
- The Falcidian portion allowed the main heir to retain a part of the estate despite significant portions being left to others.
- Under civil law, the Falcidian portion ensures the main heir gets a minimum share of the estate.
- If more than three-fourths of the estate is left to others, the instituted heir could still keep the Falcidian portion.
